Fall Home Maintenance Tips
Fall is my absolute favorite time of the year! With the crisp evenings beautiful colors, hoodie and bonfire weather, it is a great time to think about those fall projects to get your home ready for the winter.
Colors, did I say beautiful colors?!
Fall Home Maintenance Tips:
*Make any exterior repairs that may be needed
*Rake leaves, clean gutters and downspouts - does your town have a free dump day?
*Trim trees and shrubs as needed
*Shut off exterior faucets and store hoses
*Service your furnace/change filter
*Store lawn mower
*Check winter equipment and stock up if need be: snow blower, shovels, ice melt, scrapers for vehicle, winter survival kit for vehicle
*Blow out and turn off sprinkler system
*Seal cracks around windows and doors
*Store outdoor furniture/firepits
*Check railings, stairs etc for winter safety
*Check your fireplace/clean if need be, if it’s a wood burning fireplace, stock up on wood
*Carbon monoxide detector (s) (test and/or purchase)
*Check your vehicle tires - little to no thread won't make very good stopping in icy conditions
*Perhaps even put up exterior Christmas decorations before the cold/icy weather
*Smoke detectors - have you changed the battery?
*Have you done your fire drill and know where your safe place to meet is?
This is just a short list/reminder and I am sure there may be more to add. What else do you do to prepare your home for the winter?
